Depending on the geographic position (longitude, latitude) of the town, computing of prayer times is done thanks to the following elements:
Fajr prayer time:
It is calculated on the basis of the nautical twilight, when the sun is 12° below the horizon, before sunrise. Five minutes are deducted as a safeguard (Convention UOIF). For other conventions, it is the astronomical twilight (18°) that is taken. You can see the details by clicking on Convention details.
Chourouk time:
It is the time of sunrise, when the sun is at 0.61° below the horizon, to take into account the afin de tenir compte de la réfraction horizontale normale.
Zuhr prayer time:
It is calculated on the basis of the passage of the sun at the meridian (the highest point). Five minutes have been added as a precaution.
Asr prayer time:
Asr prayer time: It is calculated based on Imam Shafi3I i.e. when the shadow of each object becomes equal to the length of the object plus the shadow it had at the meridian crossing time.
Maghrib prayer time:
It is calculated based on sunset, ie when the sun is 0.61° below the horizon to account for normal horizontal refraction. Five minutes have been added as a precaution.
Isha prayer time:
It is calculated on the basis of nautical twilight, that is to say when the sun is 12° below the horizon, after it has set. Five minutes have been added as a precaution.
For other conventions, it is the astronomical twilight (18°) which is taken into account or else, the time of Isha is fixed at 1h30 after that of Maghrib (Algeria Convention).
